“It’s not MY fault I chose to be a whore!”

This is a point-and-cruelly-laugh post, because women who try to shift blame for their own bad behavior onto someone else need to be mocked mercilessly until they grow a spine and take responsibility for their own actions.

Stacey makes an “Obligatory ‘Miley Cyrus Topless'” post, but what I’d like to highlight is Miley’s reaction to criticism of her wanton (staged specifically to get reactions) behavior. “No one is talking about the man behind the ass. It was a lot of ‘Miley twerks on Robin Thicke,’ but never, ‘Robin Thicke grinds up on Miley.’ They’re only talking about the one that bent over. So obviously there’s a double standard.”

What, we’re supposed to criticize a man for giving you exactly what you wanted? Everyone knows what kind of man Thicke is, darling, and unless you come out with a credible claim that he pressured you into doing that performance against your will – and I really don’t think you can credibly claim that, my dear – then there’s nothing to be said about him. He gave you what YOU asked for. What was he supposed to do, act as if he were your father(!) and tell you that parading yourself around the stage like that was degrading? If he had refused, you would have just found someone else’s cock to use for your little self-promotion twerking skit.

Oh, no, Miley, you were the one who chose to twerk against a man’s penis for the titillation of your audience, and trying to shift blame onto the man is a ridiculous appeal to The Patriarchy. You can’t be an Empowered Womyn and then blame the man for behaving exactly as YOU wanted HIM to behave. It is not a man’s responsibility to police a grown woman’s sexual behavior. So no, you can’t try to shift blame to him, because the premise that he is responsible for telling you off and preventing you from twerking to your heart’s desire is ludicrous. Your decision, your responsibility.

Those who disapprove of sexual license disapprove equally of players and sluts. However, the existence of players does not excuse sluts from criticism for their sluttiness, especially since it is the woman’s power in the sexual market to choose which men get sex at all. If Thicke is a man unworthy of a woman’s favors, then rather than erasing the dishonor, it DOUBLES Miley’s shame, because not only did she freely choose to degrade herself in public, but she chose as her partner a man who was unworthy. You know what would have been truly “daring”? If Miley had refused to make herself into a public sex object… and remained chaste until she found a man to marry for life. But of course, that doesn’t make for a good quasi-porn show or make headlines for weeks.

You chose your actions, Miley, now you need to own them. If the bed you made has thorns in it, that’s your own fault.

Every time a loose woman feels the burn of criticism for her behavior and cries “double standard!” she is appealing to the idea that men are responsible for women’s sexual choices, that a man should have veto power over a woman’s sexual behavior. Remember that. And consider that in the contemporary societies that do place men in a position of responsibility for women’s sexual behavior, women are forced to wear head-to-toe coverings and are subject to honor killings – and, very often, acid attacks from spurned suitors.

If he didn’t rape you, it’s your responsibility that you had sex with him. If he wasn’t sexually assaulting you, it’s your responsibility that your ass was pressed against his crotch. Whether or not it was a good idea for him to take you up on your offer is beside the point. The point is that you should never have been offering, because it would have reflected just as poorly upon you whether anyone took you up on it or not!

Imagine Miley up there all by herself, doing the exact same things… alone on stage. It would be just as ridiculous and degrading, and she would be making herself into just as much a sex object, perhaps with an extra dose of “pathetic” – but her behavior would be no less shameful.
