According to PotomacLocal, the bluebell festival was last Sunday – but it was too early. I was out on the banks of the Potomac River this past Wednesday, and they were just starting – if you hurry, you’ll probably catch them in bloom!

I happen to have one in a pot, purchased from a local garden center – a handy way to judge the progression of the season! The trillium and trout lily are blooming too, and wild ginger had just started on Wednesday. We also spotted a barred owl and belted kingfisher while hiking!
